The Cooperative

S'Atra Sardigna was born in 1982, since the beginning it deals with ecosustainable production activities using the organic farming method. It starts dealing with horticulture and fruit growing, extending its interests to the production of honey, cheese, wine and oil.
At the beginning of 80s it promotes the constitution of organic farming regional and national associations

(ARPA Sardegna and AIAB) and later on it started different successful consortium initiatives (Consorzio Ecosviluppo Sardegna, Ortosarda M.O.C., Consorzio GaranziaAIAB, Top Italian Organic and UNAPROBIO National Union of Organic Producers).
Today the cooperative has almost 100 members and 2,000 hectares, wholly cultivated by using the organic farming method. It puts together also transformation firms in any productive sector assuring the organizational and qualitative control of the whole production chain: cheese, wine and myrtle distillates, lemon and orange; pasta; bread and sweet products; oil; fresh and packed meat; vegetables in oil, saffron, honey and nougat.
Our quality is worldwide recognized
Our products are on sale in our four sale points in Cagliari, Quartu S. Elena and Sassari, but also in the national and international market. Especially the latter represents an important market share and is constantly increasing (covering almost half of the sales) and involves all the market segments: from the large-scale retail trade to the specialized shops, from the bio-distributors to the direct sale.
In direct contact with nature
S'atra Sardigna does not produce organic products only but it is also a world of bio principles and culture. Indeed, it runs a mountain farmhouse hut located in the Regional Park of Sulcis covering almost 70,000 hectares of Mediterranean wood in the south-west area of Sardinia.
It has been renovated following the bio-building principles, the hut offers accommodation up to twenty five persons to practise ecologic and naturalistic activities in a beautiful and still uncontaminated nature.
